Smock Alley

Temple Bar, the formerly dilapidated and largely derelict area in the very heart of Dublin city, witnessed complete regeneration in the 1990s. This tight, irregularly-shaped site at the west-end produced 5 retail units and 53 apartments, all formed around a central courtyard, giving a residential density of 420 units per hectare. Glazed faience cladding was used for shop fronts: bright, durable & averse to graffiti.
